CDTA is an abbreviated form of Capital District Transportation Authority and is the state owned body of New York. It is a transportation services provider in the US State of New York and covers the areas of Saratoga, Rensselaer, Albany and Schenectady. The company offers local bus services, commuter Coach services and rail transportation services. The transport company has a fleet of 306 buses operated on 59 routes. As of 2009, more than 15,407,000 people traveled through CDTA carriers.
CDTA was founded in August 1970 under an Act of the Government of New York. The Capital District Transportation Authority acquired the operations of United Traction Company in 1972.
