Aakash tablet is an Android- based low-cost tablet computers and is manufactured by VMC Systems, Hyderabad. It was coined by a privately held wireless web access products and services providing company named as “ DataWind”, based in Montreal in the province of Canada. It was originally known as the “Sakshat tablet” and was renamed as Aakash Tablet. The component got its name from a sanskrit word “Akasha” which has various related meanings. Aakash tablet started its proceedings with an official approval on 5 October 2011 in New Delhi. Aakash Tablet India is a Global System for Mobile (GSM) Communication Device and is in built with an Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. It is procured by the Government of India and was designed with an Aim to connect nearly 400 universities and 25,000 institutions in an e-learning program. The tablet has a 7-inch touch screen, ARM 11 processor which is developed by British company ARM Holdings and 256 MB Random Access Memory (RAM). Internet Browser, Calculator, notepad, Calendar, DevTools, DatawindPkgeManager, Messaging, Contacts are the various applications preloaded in the upgraded second-generation model of Aakash tablet which is named as “Aakash 2”.
