Boscovs is a chain of departmental stores in the United States that was founded by Solomon Boscov a jewish by religion who immigrated to Reading, Pennsylvania in the year 1911 and opened the first store of the chain in the same year as a Economy Shoe Store and Dry Goods Annex. The chain was named after its founder Solomon Boscov. Upon his arrival in the country he had $1.37 in cash and for getting money he worked as a traveling salesman and established the business. By the year 1968, the chain had five stores in the country and in March, 2013 it had reached up to 43 stores. The chain in many regions of the country competes with other chain department stores like JCPenney, Macy's and Sears. The chain sell a range of products that covers several items such as clothing, fashion accessories, footwear, jewelry, beauty products, candy, household goods and home furnishing products like bedding, Home Furniture etc. The company sponsored the 'Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade' held in Philadelphia from the year 1998 to 2007.
