Britannia Industries Limited is an old company established back in the year 1892 in a nondescript house in
Calcutta which is now known as Kolkata with an initial investment of meager 295 rupees. In the year 1910 with the
Advent of electricity in the country, the company was made machine operational and all work was shifted to be carried out through machines. In the year 1921 the company became the first to import gas ovens. According to 31st of December 2013, the company owns thirty eight percent market share in the biscuit market. In the year 2001 the company started a joint venture with
Fonterra Co-operative Group of
New Zealand, an integrated dairy company to purchase milk for making value-added products such as cheese and buttermilk.
