Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) of India was established in the year 1983. It is a self-governing non-profit institute which has revolutionised Entrepreneurship training and development across India and the world. It started due to the rising concerns for economic development with the Aim of exploring measures to Boost the supply of entrepreneurs. The institute is sponsored by Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI), Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI), Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI) and State Bank of India (SBI). The institute Aims at inculcating the Spirit of Entrepreneurship amongst the young, creating better opportunities for self-employment and supplying competent entrepreneurs through training. The institute is located near Ahmedabad, in Gandhinagar District over a huge campus of 23 acres. It has the best of facilities available and had been awarded “Aga Khan Award for the Best Architecture” in 1992. It has supported entrepreneurship development in over 70 countries. EDI has been responsible for setting up twelve centres and institutes at the state-level for entrepreneurship development. EDI has three regional and three branch offices and more than fifteen project offices. The institute offers two post graduate programmes which include Post Graduate Diploma in Management- Business Entrepreneurship and Development studies (PGDM- BE and PGDM- DS). Apart from these they conduct various training programmes and open learning (Diploma) programmes as well. They offer various national and international research fellowship programmes as well. They provide business simulation to their students for better practical decision making and analysing their results.
