The headquarters of the company is located in Charenton-le-Pont, France. The company began its journey in the year 1972 by the collaboration of two companies called Silor and Essel. It started its operation as a small eyeglass shop. Later on in 1955, Essilor introduced a frame called Nylor. The company evolved with the formation of its first Progressive power lens called Varilux in 1959. Later the company expanded its business to Philippines and Ireland.
