The company's history began in 1956, when Munjal brothers started their business of manufacturing bicycles in Ludhiana, Punjab, India under the name of Hero Cycles Limited. In 1984 The Hero Group (India) and HondaMotor Company (Japan) signed an agreement to form the Hero Honda Motors Limited in Dharuhera, India. After congregation, the company reintroduced as Hero Honda Motors Limited and launched its first motorcycle CD 100 under the brand named as Hero Honda in the year 1985. The Hero Group (India) and HondaMotor Company (Japan) works together till 2010 and manufactures several automobiles. In 2010, the Hero Group (India) and HondaMotor Company (Japan) decided to work separately and on July 29, 2011, the company changed its name as Hero MotoCorp Limited.
