The Kalamandir is a Sandit academy in Kolkata. The Kalamandir is located at Shakespeare Sarani, Kolkata, India. The academy was registered on March 21, 1945. It is founded by Syt, B.K. Birla. Its cofounders are Gangadasji Jhawar, Bulakidasji Bhatter and Syt. Girdhardasji Kothari. The Kalamandir academy was founded under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The first senior Member Musical Programme of academy was “Godhuli Bela Ke Vasanti Swar”. It was held in 1983 where participants were the music loving members of the Sangit Kalamandir. The first couple of the academy was Syt. B.K. Birla and Dr. Sarala Birla. They sang a duet song “Main Ban Ki Chiria”.
