I went to Mayo Rochester on 2/2/16 to get an opinion regarding an enlarged pancreatic duct that was accidentally discovered in a routine CT scan. I was seen by Dr. Majumder and Dr. Chari who prescribed a series of tests. The tests concluded that I then had a 50% of having cancer at that time and they suggested a Whipple procedure that I declined. Although I walked into the Clinic, I left in a wheelchair. After two days of tests I complained about stomach pains and they sent me to the emergence room and then the hospital. My problem was constipation possibly caused by going without water for many hours each day while waiting for a test. After being released, I was sent back to the hospital again in an ambulance from the doctor's office this time. I felt very bad when I left Mayo. On my way home to Hawaii I stopped for several days in Seattle where I drank two bottles of Magnesium Citrate, spent some time on the toilet and felt as good as new. I've waited two years before writing this email. Thankfully, no pancreatic cancer to date and no more constipation. Although the Mayo doctors were very thorough, they couldn't diagnose constipation. The hospital stays were extremely expensive and unnecessary. All this doesn't sound like Mayo Clinic's outstanding reputation.
