Medha Patkar has completed her M.A from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and after that worked in the Mumbai's slums and tribal districts of North-East Gujarat. Medha Patkar has awarded and honored a number of times, such as Right Livelihood Award, Goldman Environment Award, Green Ribbon Award, Human Rights Defender’s Award, M.A. Thomas National Human Rights Award, Deena Nath Mangeshkar Award and Mahatma Phule Award.
