Dear Sir/Madam,
My family and I travelled from Hong Kong to Newcastle on Lufthansa on the 14th August 2018 and stopped in munich airport for a connecting flight on the 15th August 2018. During the security search, we were pulled aside to be searched, which was completely reasonable. However, we then noticed that the only people being searched were various Asians. We found this incredibly offensive and racist. Whilst at gate 28, we then realised that the ring that was in my bag was missing and of course, this must have been due to the search. However, after the search, we had put all the contents of our bag back into our bags so there was no possibility that we left it on the table by mistake, there was only the extreme likely hood that the security guard who searched us stole it as he refused for a long while to return my wife’s watch. After we realised the ring was missing, we notified staff around us who told us to return to the security room where they could check cctv. This caused us to miss our connecting flight to Newcastle. When we arrived at the security room again, we were told that there was NO CCTV, which we thought was highly ridiculous for an airport and that they couldn’t do anything about the situation. The staff we spoke to kindly reminded us that “we were in Germany and not in England” so “security was lessened”. The staff were extremely rude and ignorant about the entire situation. I am most certain that I will never return to munich airport and that this situation has destroyed my initial positive view on German airline and airports. Yours faithfully,
Poland Cheung .
