Presidency College Kolkata is former name of Presidency University Kolkata, which came into existence on 20 January 1817 as Hindu College but later on the name was changed as Presidency College through British Government in the year 1857. Presidency College Kolkata has acquired a status of University in July 2010 and became Presidency University.
