Prince Georges County Circuit Court is a part of seventh Judicial Circuit. Prince Georges County Circuit Court is a general jurisdiction trial Court. It has full common law equity power in civil and criminal cases. Prince Georges County Circuit Court is located at Court House 14735 Main street Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20772. In the starting the Prince Georges County Circuit Court was known as Colonial Maryland’s general court. The cases of the court were resolved by a group of Governor and Legislators. It was resolved all the cases of the colony. In 1776 the court was reconstruct and the general court was converted into an Independent court. It was separated from the other branches of the government. The court then had the state wide general trial authority. It serves then as an in-between appellate court of the peace and County Court from local justices. The Prince George’s county Circuit court is now Maryland’s highest court. In 1805 Maryland Constitution grouped the county court into six judicial districts. In the groups the Governor appointed as a Chief Judge and two associate judges in each district. The chief judge of the district provides as judge of the court of application. In 1851 Maryland Constitution divided the courts into four districts and eight circuits. The basic structure of the circuit court was established in 1851.
